Tyranny

I have no idea how to write this without sounding histrionic, but a U.S. Appeals court has just ruled that the President has the power to detain legal residents and U.S. citizens indefinitely, without being charged and without access to the courts. The fact that the Bush administration has "only" imprisoned three men this way is not a mitigation. This is fundamentally un-American - and horrifying.

Oh.

My.

God.

You know, we had to read Animal Farm and 1984 in school, but I never thought I'd actually live it.

Might be time to emigrate.
